1. How do I obtain a “white card”_

White cards are issued by the Liquor Department during normal business hours to on-premise employees age 18 years and older whose duties include the sale of liquor. Applicants must present either of the following: drivers license, bith certificate, passport, or State ID.

2. How do I obtain a “blue card”_

Blue cards are issued by the Liquor Department to managers and assistant managers of on-premises establishments, age 21 years and older, who pass a written exam administered by the department. Blue cards exams are given every Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. Applicants must also present either of the following: drivers license, birth certificate, passport, or State ID.

3. My son is 16 years old; can he work in a on-premises liquor licensed establishment_

Yes, but persons below the age of 18 years can not assume duties involving the sale of liquor. Sale of liquor includes taking and order, mixing the drink, delivering the drink to the table, accepting payment for that drink. Persons below 18 years of age must get a “Certificate of Age” from the State Department of Labor and comply with Child Labor Laws. Licensee and parent must complete Form DLC 21 and submit it to the department prior to the minor employee’s starting work.

4. How do I obtain a “red card”_

Red cards are issued by the Liquor Department to managers and assistant manager of off-premises establishments, age 21 years and older, who pass written exam administered by the department. Red card exams are given every Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. Applicant must also present either of the following: drivers license, birth certificate, passport, or State ID.
